A military expert defused on Tuesday a grenade found in a residential neighborhood in the Shouf town of Rmeileh, the army and the state-run National News Agency reported.
NNA said the grenade was attached to a detonator and placed near a gasoline gallon.
But the army said in a communique that the device was found inside a small container that was filled with a flammable material.
Voice of Lebanon radio (93.3) said the explosive device was discovered under a vehicle parked near a residential building that is located next to the road that leads to the center of Rmeileh.
The town's municipal chief told VDL that the car's owner is a resident. He did not reveal his identity.
Security forces blocked the old seaside road between Jiyyeh and Rmeileh when the expert defused the grenade.
