Riyadi vs Sagesse Basketball Championship Ends with a Fight

The fourth game of the Lebanese Basketball Championship-Final on Tuesday between Riyadi and Sagesse witnessed an unfortunate fight, with a comprehensive 69-61 victory for the latter.

Reports said that on-the-court argument erupted between two opposite team players and tension escalated leading to a fight and fans dashed into the playground.

The Federation of Lebanese Basketball called for a special meeting on Wednesday afternoon to take the necessary measures against the backdrop of Tuesday's mishap between Sagesse and Riyadi.

Sports Minister Abdul Motleb Hennawi lamented in comments to the Voice of Lebanon radio on Wednesday and said that “what happened yesterday doesn’t show stability. The security situation must not be tampered with, and sedition must not be triggered.”

He assured “We will take the necessary precautions, and in my opinion the basketball championship must be stopped.”

To a question asked by LBCI TV presenter, Hennawi said that he cannot put the blame on a single party for triggering the fight until thorough investigations were run in the incident.

“Head of the Federation should take strict measures after their meeting today,” he added.

LBCI said that Lebanon's basketball championship is likely carry on but without any fans attending the game.
