'A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder' Wins Tony

"A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder" has gotten a lot of love — it has nabbed the best new musical Tony Award.

The romp of a musical, in which a poor man comically eliminates the eight heirs ahead of him for a title, beat out "Aladdin," ''After Midnight" and "Beautiful — The Carole King Musical."

In the show, Bryce Pinkham discovers he's ninth in line to inherit a fortune, so he decides to eliminate the eight heirs of the D'Ysquith family standing in his way. Jefferson Mays plays all eight victims — two women and six men.

A steady draw since it opened in March, the musical features a book by Robert L. Freedman, music by Steven Lutvak, and wry lyrics by Freedman and Lutvak.
