Report: March 14 Statement Inspired by Meeting of Top Officials on Tuesday

March 14 leaders discussed the indictment issued by the Special Tribunal for Lebanon and Hizbullah’s stance from it during talks they held on Tuesday night, al-Liwaa daily reported.

The newspaper said Thursday that the meeting was held between Phalange party leader Amin Gemayel, former Premier Fouad Saniora and Lebanese Forces chief Samir Geagea.

The conferees discussed the indictment and the TIME magazine interview with one of the four suspects in ex-Premier Rafik Hariri’s Feb. 2005 assassination.

Informed sources told al-Liwaa that the statement issued by the March 14 general-secretariat on Wednesday was influenced by the discussions held between the three officials.

The statement slammed Hizbullah’s “sanctification” of the four party suspects.

“One of the suspects’ interview in TIME Magazine was a deliberate provocation by Hizbullah to not just the STL, but the Lebanese people’s longing for justice,” it said.
