Police Detain Syrian Accused of Raping 15-Year-Old Daughter

A Syrian father was apprehended by the Internal Security Force after his wife filed a complaint against him for raping his 15-year-old daughter.

According to a communique issued by the ISF, Syrian national Walida F., the mother of the teenager, headed to the police, accompanied by her daughter and juvenile counselor Abeer al-Hajj, to press charges against her husband, identified by his initials A. N., over violently raping his daughter under torture.

W. N. testified to the police that her father first harassed her two weeks ago while her mother and 12 minor brothers weren't at the house but her handicapped brother was in the other room.

The statement said that the father told W. to “get the oil and enter the room then he took her clothes off and raped her.”

The victim said that the incident happened a second time, which prompted her to inform her mother.

The police raided the house of the family in Nehme, south of Beirut, and detained the father.

He acknowledged the charges pressed against him and told the police that he forced his other children, except for the girl, to beg on the streets.

The children were placed in foster homes.

The man also is a drug abuser, the ISF communique said.
