Economy Minister Nicolas Nahhas is conducting behind the scenes contacts with various officials in order to prepare the suitable conditions to hold the cabinet session on September 7, reported the daily An Nahar on Sunday.
Nahhas, representing Premier Najib Miqati, has so far held talks with President Michel Suleiman and Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblat.
He is later expected to meet with National Struggle Front Ministers Ghazi Aridi and Wael Abu Faour.
The daily noted that Nahhas has yet to achieve progress in his discussions.
It revealed that the consultations are focusing on the electricity file and ways to introduce Suleiman, Miqati, and Jumblat’s conditions to it.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister’s sources stressed the need to “complete a suitable electricity plan that would meet all legal conditions.”
“This achievement, should it succeed, would be the first for the government and not a reason to target it,” they added.
