Doctor's Charred, Stabbed Body Found in al-Kafaat
The corpse of a general practitioner was found Wednesday inside his house in the Beirut southern suburb of al-Kafaat, state-run National News Agency reported.
“Burned and suffering six stab wounds to the neck and chest, the dead body of Dr. Hasan Abdul Hadi al-Sayyed Suleiman Hashem, 54, was discovered in his house in al-Kafaat,” NNA said.
The physician hails from the southern region of Iqlim al-Tuffah and is the father of a boy and a girl, who were not home during the incident, the agency added.
“His house was torched after he was stabbed, in a bid to hide the traces of the crime,” MTV reported.
A forensic doctor who examined the body in the apartment after the fire was doused said the victim died around 1:00 pm.
“Investigations are underway to uncover the circumstances” of the incident, NNA said.
