A rocket fired from Syria hit the Israeli-occupied sector of the Golan Heights on Sunday, falling on open ground and causing no casualties, an Israeli army spokeswoman told Agence France Presse.
"The assumption is that it was not a stray," she said, although there was no immediate report of Israeli retaliation.
Al-Arabiya television said Israel was mulling a possible response to the rocket fire.
The development comes in the wake of recent rocket attacks from southern Lebanon against areas in northern Israel, which apparently were carried out in solidarity with the Gaza Strip.
At least 166 Palestinians have been killed and another 1,120 wounded in a major Israeli offensive against the Gaza Strip, which Tel Aviv says is aimed at halting rocket attacks from the Palestinian enclave.
