Military Tribunal Judge Fadi Sawan demanded on Monday the death penalty for 23 suspects accused of taking part in terrorist acts and belonging to the al-Qaida-affiliated Abdullah Azzam Brigades, reported the National News Agency.
The suspects include top official in the Brigades Naim Mahmoud Abbas, Jamal Daftardar, and Joumana Hmayyed.
Daftardar was charged with belonging to the Ziad al-Jarrah Battalion, which is part of the Abdullah Azzam Brigades.
Hmayyed was arrested for her links to a bombing in the eastern Bekaa region of Arsal in February.
Nine of the suspects are in custody, while the remaining 17 are at large.
The fugitives include Abdullah Azzam Brigades spokesman Sheikh Sirajeddine Zouraykat.
Sawan also added the case of the Choueifat bombing to Abbas' case, reported NNA, explaining that they are both linked to an armed terrorist group seeking to carry out attacks in Lebanon.
Arrest warrants have been issued against the fugitives and their case has been referred to the permanent military court.
In February, a suicide bomber blew himself up on board a minibus in the Choueifat region south of Beirut killing himself and wounding two people.
