Loyalty to Resistance: Attacking Army Serves Enemy Interests

The Loyalty to the Resistance bloc condemned on Monday the statements that were recently issued against the Lebanese army, warning that such attacks may serve the goals of Lebanon’s enemies.

It said in a statement after its weekly meeting headed by MP Mohammed Raad: “The attack is part of a suspicious agenda that has been, for a while, seeking to bind Lebanon’s equation of strength.”

The statement was referring to MP Khaled al-Daher’s recent criticism of the army in which he accused it of adopting the same repressive approach as the Syrian security forces in their crackdown against anti-regime protestors.

The bloc continued: “This phase in Lebanon requires us to be vigilant, especially since some internal sides have been escalating their political rhetoric in an attempt pave the way for foreign meddling in Lebanon.”

“We hope the Lebanese government would be able to uphold its national responsibilities in fortifying Lebanon against attempts to harm stability and the army in order to link it to the Zionist-American agenda,” it stressed.

The Loyalty to the Resistance bloc also hoped that the disappearance of Imam Moussa al-Sadr and his two companions will be resolved now that the rule of Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi has come to an end.

“Their fate should be revealed … and those behind this terrible crime, starting with Gadhafi, should be brought to justice,” it added.

Sadr vanished, amid mysterious circumstances and was last seen in Libya where he was invited by Gadhafi.

He was trying to negotiate an end to the Lebanese civil war (1975-1990), in which Palestinian factions were involved.

Gadhafi was believed to be shipping weapons to the Palestinians and other groups and Sadr, according to reports, was hoping to convince the Libyan leader to refrain from stoking the unrest in Lebanon.
