Twenty-seven people were killed in Sudan on Monday when a bus and a transport truck collided south of the capital Khartoum, police said.
The crash happened near Al Gutayna, about 90 kilometers (56 miles) from Khartoum in White Nile state.
The south-bound truck "deviated from its lane and entered the other lane" where it hit the north-bound bus, police said on the interior ministry website.
Among the dead were seven women and a child, while nine other people were injured.
The crash happened in the final days of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, before next week's Eid al-Fitr festival.
Deadly road crashes are relatively common in Sudan and often involve buses, leading to high numbers of casualties.
