Operator of Free Sunnis of Baalbek Brigade Twitter Account Charged with Inciting Sedition

State Commissioner to the Military Court Judge Saqr Saqr charged on Tuesday Hussein al-Hussein with operating the Free Sunnis of Baalbek Brigade's account on Twitter and creating sedition.

The state-run National News Agency reported that Saqr charged al-Hussein with creating a “fake” account on Twitter under the name of the so-called Free Sunnis of Baalbek Brigade.

The 19-year-old suspect was charged with threatening the residents of Baalbek, politicians and security figures and the Lebanese army, in addition to claiming suicide attacks and the launching of rockets on Baalbek and Hermel.

Saqr also held him responsible for inciting sedition among nationals in an attempt to create hatred and hostility and provoking rift between sect.

The charges could lead to the death penalty.

Saqr then referred him to the First Military Examining Magistrate, Judge Abu Ghida.

On Monday, General Prosecutor Judge Samir Hammoud referred al-Hussein to the Military Court.

He was arrested last week by the Internal Security Forces Intelligence Bureau.

Media reports said that the family of al-Hussein is close to Hizbullah.

The Brigade has claimed responsibility for several rocket and bomb attacks inside Lebanon, the last of which were the suicide blasts in Dahr al-Baydar and Raouche's Duroy Hotel.

The obscure group has threatened to target Interior Minister Nouhad al-Mashnouq, army chief Gen. Jean Qahwaji and Maj. Suzan al-Hajj, chief of the Internal Security Forces' Cyber Crime and Intellectual Property Protection bureau.

It has repeatedly slammed the military institution as the “Crusader Army” and it vowed to task gunmen to attack churches in Lebanon and in the eastern Bekaa valley in particular.
