Marada movement and Tashnag party ministers have informed Free Patriotic Movement chief Michel Aoun that they wouldn’t withdraw from the cabinet if his ministers took such an action, al-Liwaa daily reported Wednesday.
There were reports that Aoun’s ministers would pull out of the government if it failed during its session at Baabda palace on Wednesday to approve the electricity project proposed by Energy Minister Jebran Bassil.
Ministerial sources ruled out the withdrawal of the ministers from Tuesday’s session. But said if it happens, it will be for a period of one-week or two, meaning their move wouldn’t lead to a full suspension of their participation in the cabinet.
An Nahar newspaper said that strong efforts are exerted to prevent the failure of the government. A conclusion was reached after contacts made among officials inside and outside Lebanon that the cabinet’s collapse was unacceptable.
