Prime Minister Najib Miqati urged Lebanese officials to return to the language of reason and logic and abandon violent and sectarian rhetoric, during Wednesday’s cabinet session.
He noted that “an unhealthy mood is affecting Lebanon’s political society,” criticizing the obvious “cursing language” between factions.
Miqati said “all leaderships will have to solve disputes one day through dialogue and consensus.”
He hoped that the electricity draft law, which was approved by the Cabinet last week and referred to Parliament, would be adopted “without any political tension and pre-judgment.”
Ministerial sources told An Nahar newspaper on Thursday that the cabinet discussed a proposal by minister of state for administrative development Mohammed Fneish to set a mechanism to rectify the productivity of the public administrations general-managers, heads of boards and the public institutions general-managers.
The sources said that the cabinet decided on tasking the monitoring committees to submit periodic reports every six months on the efficiency of the employees.
They noted that the cabinet will set the social, economic and financial issues as its priority.
The sources said “the finance ministry is carrying out the 2012 state budget that will include mainly these priorities.”
Finance Minister Mohammed al-Safadi told An Nahar that the 2012 state budget will be finalized between September and October.
“The electricity project will be linked to improving tax revenues and increased social spending,” he said.
