The Lebanese army reportedly repelled an overnight infiltration by gunmen who tried to progress into the northeastern border town of Wadi Rafeq.
The area lies between the border region of al-Qaa and Ras Baalbek.
LBCI reported that the military prevented the armed men from controlling the hills that overlook the area.
The TV channel earlier said Hizbullah fighters cooperated with the army on repelling the attack.
Islamists in the country say that Sunnis are facing harassment by the army, which they accuse of working under the command of Hizbullah.
Jihadists from al-Qaida-linked al-Nusra Front and the Islamic State group are entrenched on the outskirts of Arsal on the porous Syrian-Lebanese border.
They engaged in a bloody fighting with the Lebanese army in August and took with them hostages from the military and police.
Eight Hizbullah fighters were killed last week in clashes with al-Nusra Front jihadists in the eastern Bekaa region of Brital, sparking a major confrontation with the group along the entire Eastern Mountain Range.
