4 Suspects, Including Cleric, Arrested for Working for ISIL

Four people were arrested on Friday for recruiting members to join the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, reported the National News Agency.

It said that State Commissioner to the Military Court Judge Saqr Saqr charged the four suspects, who include a Muslim cleric, with recruiting people to join the jihadist group.

A number of people have in recent months been charged with belonging to ISIL and other extremist organizations.

The army and security forces have been cracking down on suspects wanted on terrorism charges.

These efforts were intensified in light of clashes in August between the army and Islamist gunmen who overran the northeastern border town of Arsal.
