French Foreign Ministry official Jean Francois Giraud, Head of the North Africa and Middle East Department, is expected to arrive in Lebanon next week.
According to al-Joumhouria newspaper published on Thursday, Giraud's visit comes ahead of his visit to Iran.
The daily said that Giraud will arrive in Lebanon on December 8 on a two-day official visit.
Diplomatic sources told the daily that Paris is expected to make important stances regarding the presidential impasse after the French diplomat's visit.
Lebanon has been without a president since May when the term of Michel Suleiman ended over differences among the parliamentary blocs on a compromise head of state.
