The sound of an explosion that echoed across the southern city of Sidon and caused panic on Monday evening turned out to be the result of a hand grenade.
"A hand grenade was hurled near the British Cemetery in Haret Saida," state-run National News Agency reported, referring to a mainly Shiite neighborhood of Sidon.
The blast did not cause any casualties, NNA said.
The British Cemetery contains bodies of British troops killed during the two world wars.
The Internal Security Forces meanwhile said that the blast was caused by a stun grenade that went off in the al-Zaatari grove.
The army cordoned off the area in the wake of the incident.
