Army Arrests Man who 'Hosted' Jabal Mohsen Suicide Bombers

The army on Wednesday announced arresting a man who had provided residence and food for the two suicide bombers who carried out the deadly Jabal Mohsen twin attack, revealing that it has unveiled all details pertaining to the group that plotted the operation.

“As a result of the continued interrogation of the detainees, the Intelligence Directorate has managed to arrest Qassem Youssef Taljeh, who had received the two suicide bombers and provided them with accommodation and food,” the army said in a statement.

“Two hours before the double bombing, Taljeh inspected the site and accompanied the two suicide bombers to carry out the operation,” the army added.

It said Taljeh's arrest has allowed it to unveil “all details pertaining to the terrorist group, after most of the members were detained.”

It said investigations are still underway under the supervision of the relevant judicial authorities.

On Thursday, the army said it had thwarted a plot to carry out a “series of suicide attacks” in the wake of the Jabal Mohsen bombing.

Military intelligence agents arrested “Bassam Hussam al-Naboush, Elie Tony al-Warraq, aka Abou Ali, and Syrian national Muhannad Ali Mohammed Abdul Qader, who were plotting to carry out terrorist operations against army posts and residential neighborhoods,” the Army Command said in a statement.

On Tuesday, the military prosecutor charged 28 people over the Jabal Mohsen attack, including top Islamist fugitives Osama Mansour and Shadi al-Mawlawi -- who are both still on the run.
