Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun said on Saturday that the Syrian people will be able to arise from the crisis stronger than before, stressing that violence will lead to failure.
“The country that uses violence and not take the path of dialogue will not succeed,” Aoun said during a meeting with a Syrian youth delegation in Rabieh.
He urged the Syrian president Bashar Assad to implement reforms “swiftly.”
Aoun stressed that the “(Syrian) people will carry on with the democratic process” soon after the reforms are implemented by the regime without any painful or bloody incidents.
The MP hit back at those who are “supporting these incidents,” saying “they have bad intentions.”
U.N. human rights Chief Navi Pillay said that the toll from seven months of violence in Syria had risen above 3,000. She said Syria risked "a full-blown civil war" unless the international community took action.
