Shepherd Escapes Kidnapping by Israeli Troops in South

A Lebanese shepherd escaped on Monday from an abduction attempt by Israeli troops in southern in Lebanon, reported the National News Agency.

It said that Mohammed Zahra escaped the Israeli troops who had crossed about 50 meters into Lebanese territory in the area of al-Shahel west of Shebaa.

The shepherd managed to flee towards a position of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon.

Earlier, Israeli forces had opened fire towards shepherds in the town of Kfarshouba.

No one was injured in the incident.

In April, Israeli troops made an incursion into Lebanese territory in a bid to abduct a shepherd but the attempt was foiled by the Lebanese man's dog.

Israeli forces had abducted several Lebanese shepherds in recent years. They were all released after interrogation.
