An extraordinary cabinet session on tourism scheduled to be held next Tuesday was postponed over the death of Saudi Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz, An Nahar newspaper reported.
The daily said Sunday that the decision to postpone the session came after Premier Najib Miqati decided to head to Saudi Arabia to attend the funeral.
The crown prince, aged 80 according to government records, served as the oil kingpin's defense minister for nearly five decades but had been in the United States since mid-June for medical treatment.
President Michel Suleiman, Speaker Nabih Berri, Miqati, ex-Premier Saad Hariri, al-Mustaqbal bloc leader Fouad Saniora, Phalange party chief Amin Gemayel and several Lebanese political and spiritual personalities have issued statements to extend their condolences.
Miqati has also held a telephone conversion with Saudi King Abdullah to condole him.
