The Lebanese army said on Friday that it killed two jihadists after a group of gunmen tried to infiltrate the northeastern border town of Arsal.
The military said on its twitter account that it targeted a terrorist cell that was trying to enter the town from its outskirts.
Troops killed two jihadists and seized arms and ammunition from them, it said.
Voice of Lebanon radio (100.5) said one of the dead gunmen is the son of defected Syrian colonel Abdullah al-Rifai.
VDL (93.3) said that Hizbullah also stopped an armed group from infiltrating Lebanese territories from an area between al-Alali and al-Abyad mountains in the eastern mountain range.
The area lies on the outskirts of Maaraboun, it said.
Several militants were killed in the clash, VDL added.
