Phalange Party leader Amin Gemayel said on Saturday that the March 14-led opposition supporters’ victory in the Students elections at Notre Dame University - Louaize (NDU) is a model of democracy and an achievement for Lebanon.
“This is additional evidence that the Lebanese youth know exactly what future they want for their kids,” Gemayel said during a meeting with a delegation from the Phalange party students at the NDU.
He stressed that the “attacks” on the students prove that they want to impose a “new sanctions law” on those who express their right by celebrating their victory.
Scores of students affiliated in the Phalange Party on Friday blocked the Zouk Mosbeh-Jeita highway to protest the army’s arrest of three of their comrades who were using fireworks to celebrate their victory in student elections at the NDU.
“We refuse to be exploited… And we refuse to have any (Lebanese) under the law or constitution,” Gemayel stressed.
For his part, Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea said that the victory achieved by the March 14 supporters at the NDU was reached by “our continuous efforts.”
“Students elections reflect the reality of our community. Again the Christians proved what they want and who they support,” he stated.
Geagea said during a meeting with an LF delegation from the NDU that Christians “are with the state against the statelets, with stability against war… they support the Arab spring against the oppressive regimes.”
The LF leader said that the Christians “are with God but against Hizbullah.”
