Wounded Syrian Citizen Enters Lebanese Territories

An injured Syrian citizen without any identification papers entered the Lebanese territories on Monday, the National News Agency reported.

The Lebanese Red Cross transferred the man from the Qaa border town to al-Salam Hospital in Qbayat.

The NNA reported that the transfer was in cooperation with the Internal Security Forces because the citizen didn’t hold any identification cards with him.

In recent months, thousands of Syrian refugees have used the illegal crossings, often braving gunfire to enter Lebanon.

A number of infiltrations by the Syrian army have been reported in the past couple of months.

Lebanon and Syria share a 330-kilometer border but have yet to agree on an official demarcation. Apart from the Joussiyeh crossing, the rest of the border area at Qaa is separated only by dirt mounds and a tiny creek allowing people to cross freely and smuggling activities to flourish.
