Hariri Refuses to Respond to Aoun: We Need a Strong Army, Not a Strong Party to Protect Us

Former Prime Minister Saad Hariri on Tuesday refused to respond to FPM leader MP Michel Aoun's statement, relaying that he does not want to "waste time."

Aoun had said in his weekly statement that Hariri "can say whatever he wants. Who asked him not to return? There is another type of one-way ticket if he wants to return to Lebanon and he knows it.”

Hariri said on Twitter fielding questions from his supporters that " We should have a strong army not a strong party," adding that " we were the first in the Arab revolution we are the cedar revolution and freed our country in 2005."

The former PM stressed that he did not sign any paper forfeiting the Special Tribunal to Lebanon, stating that he has nothing to hide.

" They are hiding 4 suspects let them put them forward," he added.

When asked on the future of the Christians and Muslims if the Syrian regime falls, Hariri said:" Christians and Muslims are Lebanese, and nothing will. We will all build Lebanon together and I am sure the Syrians will do the same."

"I think after seeing what happened in Homs anything is possible, for people are being killed for wanting freedom," Hariri added.

Hariri reiterated that the economic situation was better during the previous governments "which had a solid economic program, and we made 8% growth when we were in Government. What did they do? Nothing."
