The Mustaqbal parliamentary bloc on Tuesday slammed Lebanon’s decision to vote against suspending Syria’s membership in the Arab League.
In a statement issued after its weekly meeting, the bloc condemned “Lebanon’s stance at the meeting of the Council of Arab Foreign Ministers (in Cairo on Saturday), which sided against the brotherly Syrian people and represented a dangerous precedent by defying the popular Arab consensus.”
“The Lebanese stance in Morocco (during Wednesday’s meeting of the Arab FMs) will be under the strict scrutiny of the Lebanese, and the Lebanese government will be held responsible, regardless of the rhetoric of maneuvering and distorting facts,” the bloc said.
Separately, it lauded “the visit by a March 14 delegation to the (northern) regions of Akkar and Wadi Khaled (to inspect the living conditions of Syrian refugees), which reflected a constant, firm and real approach towards embracing the brotherly Syrian people during the current circumstances.”
The bloc called on the Lebanese authorities to provide the refugees with “humanitarian and health care, away from any political calculations, and to end the violations and insults of some security agencies against Lebanese volunteers performing their humanitarian duty by moving the wounded” Syrians to Lebanese hospitals.
