Speaker Nabih Berri said on Saturday that Lebanon will overcome the crises and maintain its stability.
“Lebanon will overcome crises and preserve its security and stability,” Berri said during a dinner banquet in honor of Brazilian Vice President Michel Temer.
He noted that “Lebanon is based on dialogue, consensus, coexistence and unity (among its citizens).”
Berri said that the foreign interventions in the region are not “innocent” and aims at achieving their interests.
“Lebanon will always remain a model of a global village in dialogue between religions and civilizations,” he stressed.
Concerning the Lebanese-Brazilian bilateral relations, Berri said that “Brazil has always supported the implementation of U.N. Security Council resolution 425 and supported Lebanon.
U.N. Security Council Resolution 425, adopted on March 19, 1978, five days after the Israeli invasion of Lebanon, called on Israel to withdraw immediately its forces from Lebanon and established the United Nations Interim Force In Lebanon (UNIFIL).
He urged Prime Minister Najib Miqati to call on holding a conference to strengthen relations with Latin American countries.
The speaker noted that Lebanon should develop the bilateral relations with Brazil.
