Speaker Nabih Berri is annoyed at the lack of contacts with former Prime Minister Saad Hariri, al-Joumhouria newspaper reported on Tuesday.
Berri’s visitors told the daily that he doesn’t want the political boycott to last any further, expressing relief after al-Mustaqbal bloc leader MP Fouad Saniora attended a dinner banquet held in honor of visiting Brazilian Vice-President Michel Temer.
He described the local developments as critical especially amid the Arab League’s suspension of Syria’s membership, fearing that things might slip into a negative path due to the complicated regional situation.
The speaker’s visitors said that he reiterated the importance of the resumption of the national dialogue, stressing on launching an initiative to safeguard the country.
However, Berri is convinced that the resumption of the dialogue isn’t possible with the “persistent stances” taken by the March 8-led government and the March 14-led opposition.
