An army sergeant was seriously wounded on Sunday when he came under gunfire in the northern city of Tripoli, state-run National News Agency reported.
“Army Sergeant Talal Taleb was injured when gunmen opened fire at him from a white Renault Rapid car in Tripoli," NNA said.
"He sustained injuries to the flank and back and he is currently undergoing a surgery at the Nini Hospital," the agency added.
It had earlier said that he was transferred to hospital in an "unstable condition."
The agency did not elaborate on the motives or on whether Taleb was on or off duty.
