Grand Mufti of the Lebanese Republic Sheikh Abdul Latif Deryan has high expectations on the planned visit of President Michel Aoun to Saudi Arabia, and said it improves ties between the two countries, the state-run National News Agency reported Saturday.
Aoun's first visit abroad as President “strengthens relations between Lebanon and Saudi Arabia and other GCC countries,” said Deryan before he took a flight to Saudi Arabia at the Rafic Hariri International Airport, where he kick starts a 10-day official visit.
Aoun will visit Saudi Arabia and Qatar next week in his first foreign trip abroad to discuss bilateral relations between the countries, in addition to the situation in the region.
He is scheduled to visit Saudi Arabia on Monday and Tuesday, Qatar on Wednesday and Thursday.
