MP Ali Fayyad of Hizbullah's Loyalty to Resistance parliamentary bloc announced Sunday that foreign forces have little influence over the issue of Lebanon's electoral law.
“The domestic balances and the nature of relations between the parties are stronger than any foreign influence as to the electoral law, and no one can overlook full proportional representation in the ongoing debate,” Fayyad told Voice of Lebanon radio (93.3).
Separately, he noted that “there are no coldness or tensions in the relation between the Free Patriotic Movement and Hizbullah.”
Fayyad pointed out however that “divergent viewpoints could arise amid the complications of the electoral law issue.”
The Hizbullah lawmaker also said that “there is still hope to reach an agreement,” noting that “the discussions are currently suspended due to the fact that Prime Minister Saad Hariri and Minister Jebran Bassil are outside Lebanon.”
