Army Vows to Guarantee 'Transparency' of Algeria Transition
The Algerian army vowed Wednesday to guarantee the "transparency and integrity" of the country's political transition following the resignation of longtime president Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
General Ahmed Gaid Salah, the chief of staff, quoted in a defense ministry statement, said the army would ensure the transition follows the "rules of transparency and integrity, and the laws of the republic."
