Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi on Tuesday noted that Bkirki’s dialogue with Hizbullah was revolving around three issues: “the Lebanese entity as a state, the National Pact which is based on living together in parity, and Lebanon’s role and message.”
“We are discussing the obstacles hindering these principles, and this is how we can move forward,” al-Rahi added.
He warned that Lebanon has become a group of “mini-states.”
“Financial mini-states where some have been robbing public money, security mini-states where some have their own security zones, and political mini-states practicing hegemony over the political decision,” al-Rahi said of the so-called mini-states, lamenting that “Lebanon is fragmented and disintegrated.”
“This is against the 1943 (National) Pact,” the patriarch stressed, adding that “we need to rebuild this state and this should be done through dialogue and building confidence among each other.”
“We as a patriarchate have started dialogue with everyone,” al-Rahi noted.
