Hizbullah urged the cabinet on Wednesday to assume its responsibilities and seriously resolve the electricity crisis that caused severe rationing throughout Lebanon.
“Citizens are experiencing a severe electricity crisis” during harsh winter conditions, according to a statement issued by the party.
It said that resolving this crisis is the cabinet’s duty.
However, Hizbullah noted that “the crisis can’t fall on the shoulders of a specific ministry,” blaming previous governments for the problem.
Energy Minister Jebran Bassil has on several occasions blamed certain parties without naming them for the delay in the implementation of his projects after he was blamed for the power cuts.
On Tuesday, he urged citizens who are suffering from severe rationing to demonstrate and demand their rights.
Hizbullah’s statement stressed that the electricity crisis poses dangerous economic and social threats.
“The cabinet as a whole… should assume its responsibility and resolve this crisis through establishing the required credits and implementing the adopted plan,” the statement added.
The residents of several areas in Lebanon have been demonstrating against power cuts by blocking roads with burning tires.
