Assailants Burn Office of Nabatiyeh Town Mayor

Unknown assailants have set the office of the mayor of al-Sharqiyeh town in Nabatiyeh on fire, burning all the documents and identification records of the town’s residents, the National News Agency reported Thursday.

Mayor Hani Abdul Raouf Shoaib filed a complaint with the Internal Security Forces, which inspected the burned office at the town square and launched an investigation to find the culprits, NNA said.

Municipal chief, Rida Zein Shoaib, inspected the scene of the attack that took place on Wednesday night and hoped the security forces would speed up the probe to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Also Thursday, a huge fire gutted a sawmill in the town of Mrah al-Siraj in Dinniyeh in northern Lebanon.

Its owner Mohammed al-Shrouq doused the fire along with his neighbors and in cooperation with members of the Civil Defense Department.

ISF launched a probe to reveal whether the fire was arson or an accident, NNA said.
