A rain-triggered mudslide blocked a road in the Metn town of Beit Mery on Friday morning, causing bumper-to-bumper traffic during rush hour.
The town’s municipality reopened the road a few hours after the incident which had blocked the traffic on the Beit Mery-Monteverde road leading to Beirut.
A heavy rainstorm began lashing Lebanon on Thursday night. The Meteorology Department expected the storm to last until Saturday night.
It said temperatures on the coast ranged between 7 and 12 degrees as mountainous areas witnessed subzero temperatures.
In the eastern Bekaa valley, there is a high of 10 degrees and a low of 5 degrees.
The Meteorology Department expected a snowfall at 800 meters above sea level on Friday.
