President Michel Aoun stressed Tuesday that “despair” has no place in his thoughts and that he will continue “working for the sake of achieving recovery” in the remaining period of his tenure.
“We must all work hard to exit the abyss that we are in due to the killing of production in our economy,” Aoun said in a meeting with Industry Minister George Boujikian and a delegation from the new board of directors of the Association of Lebanese Industrialists, led by Salim Zeeni.
Noting that the prosperity of the industrial sector would contribute to the country’s prosperity, Aoun noted that “an agreement with the International Monetary Fund would push in this direction.”
“Reforms will be launched so that the agreement can be implemented,” the President added.
Aoun also emphasized “the importance of implementing the capital control law and the forensic audit,” noting that “had they been implemented two years ago, we would have been in a better situation now.”
