Prime Minister-designate Najib Mikati will meet with President Michel Aoun after he returns from abroad where he is spending the Eid al-Adha vacation, sources close to Mikati said.
Mikati will discuss with the President a “host of suggestions” related to the formation of the new government, the sources told the PSP’s al-Anbaa news portal in remarks published Tuesday.
An-Nahar newspaper meanwhile said that there are no “positive nor promising indications” as to the possibility of defusing the tensions between Aoun and Mikati.
Ad-Diyar daily for its part reported that “the points of contention between the President and the PM-designate are still unchanged” and that “the past few hours did not witness any serious communication between them.”
Preparations are meanwhile underway to hold a legislative session aimed at approving the draft laws requested by the International Monetary Fund.
