Prime Minister Najib Miqati ordered on Wednesday the closure of public and private institutions and schools on the occasion of the seventh anniversary of the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri on February 14.
The March 14 leadership decided to mark the anniversary on Tuesday at the Beirut International Exhibition & Leisure Center.
The coalition’s leaders also agreed to hold a mass rally at the Martyrs Square in downtown Beirut on March 14.
The BIEL ceremony will include speeches by March 14 leaders, including ex-Premier Saad Hariri, who is most likely to address supporters, politicians and academicians through a giant screen.
Saad Hariri is recuperating at his house in Paris after suffering from fractures in his left leg during a ski accident in the French Alps.
Rafik Hariri was killed in a massive suicide car bombing in Beirut on February 14, 2005.
