Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri on Thursday hit back at remarks by former president Michel Aoun.
“You did not need anyone to obstruct you, seeing as you promised us hell and fully fulfilled your promise,” Berri said in a statement.
“Seventy-four laws were issued without being implemented… topped by the electricity law,” the Speaker added.
“You deprived us of seeing the stars at night and you made us see them at noon!” Berri went on to say, using a Lebanese slang expression denoting that someone has caused great harm to others.
In an interview aired overnight on OTV, Aoun said that Berri was one of the main “obstructors” during his presidential term.
“All that I know is that Speaker Berri was against my election as president and he obstructed 18 files that I was working on,” Aoun said.
