Drone used in attempt to smuggle drugs into Roumieh Prison
The Internal Security Forces on Thursday announced foiling an attempt to use a drone to smuggle drugs into the central Roumieh Prison.
In a statement, the ISF said a drone was detected hovering over Roumieh’s convicts ward on March 31, which prompted the prison’s guards to seize it.
The DJI-type drone turned out to be carrying 74 narcotic pills, a white substance, a cellphone containing a SIM card, a USB flash drive and a pair of earbuds, the ISF added.
“Investigations are underway under the supervision of the relevant judicial authorities and efforts are ongoing to arrest those involved in the operation,” the ISF said.
