Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi called Wednesday for an international conference on Lebanon after Lebanese officials failed to hold a dialogue.
"Officials in Lebanon refuse to sit together at a dialogue table because their private interests are more important than the public interest," al-Rahi said.
"If we cannot hold a dialogue to discuss our disagreements, then what will we discuss?" he asked.
Mired in a crippling economic crisis since 2019, Lebanon has been governed by a caretaker cabinet for more than a year and without a president for more than eight months.
No group has a clear majority in parliament and lawmakers have failed 12 times to elect a new president, amid bitter divisions.
