Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi told caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati during a bilateral meeting in Riyadh that Hezbollah is “independent in decisions and actions and does not receive orders from Iran.”
“Hezbollah’s measures in south Lebanon are based on wisdom, rationality and deterrence in order to prevent aggression,” Raisi added.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of an emergency Arab-Islamic summit that tackled the ongoing Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.
Hezbollah and Israel have been engaged in daily tit-for-tat exchanges of hostilities since October 8, a day after Hamas mounted an unprecedented attack on Israel that escalated into a brutal war on civilians in Gaza.
