Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri has told his visitors that the latest legislative session and its extension of the army chief’s term have proven that “without consensus nothing can be achieved.”
“It is possible to apply the latest parliamentary scene to the presidential vote if there is a real consensus will among the parliamentary blocs,” Berri added.
Reminiscing how parliamentary blocs had “refused to convene and sit around the dialogue table,” the Speaker lamented that “we could have saved a lot of time instead of wasting all this time.”
“In the end, things can only work through following the choice of consensus, which would lead to the election of a president and the strengthening of the country and its institutions,” Berri added.
