Efforts to avert an Israeli war on Lebanon are nearing success, Kuwait's al-Anbaa newspaper reported on Saturday.
"Behind-the-scenes contacts outside Lebanon have almost managed to prevent the spread of the war to Lebanon, after it was confirmed that no one wants it," the daily said.
"A senior figure played an effective role in light of his broad ties with U.S. President Joe Biden," the newspaper added.
"U.S. envoy Amos Hochstein will certainly return to Beirut to expand the negotiations in order to reach an agreement over the land border between the two countries," al-Anbaa said.
It added: "The effort now will be to obtain a pledge from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to commit to what might be agreed on, because that would facilitate the return of the settlers in the north to their homes as well as the return of the displaced Lebanese to the border areas."
