Israeli warplanes raided Thursday several border towns in south Lebanon, a day after Hezbollah carried out seven attacks on northern Israel and the occupied Shebaa Farms.
Israeli warplanes and drones targeted the towns of al-Odaisseh, Aita al-Shaab, Yaroun, al-Majidieh, while Israeli artillery shelled al-Khiam, Aitaroun and the outskirts of Yaroun.
Meanwhile, Hezbollah targeted an Israeli military intelligence force in Metula "in a direct hit, inflicting deaths and injuries among its members."
Since the war in Gaza erupted in October, there have been near-daily exchanges along the Lebanon-Israel border and international mediators have scrambled to prevent an all-out war in tiny Lebanon.
Tensions had de-escalated in the past few days during the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan as international mediators pushed for a truce in Gaza.
At least 322 people have been killed in Lebanon, mainly Hezbollah fighters but also 56 civilians, according to an AFP tally.
In Israel, at least 10 soldiers and seven civilians have been killed in the cross-border exchanges, the military says.
