Unknown assailants riding an SUV opened fire overnight towards Kataeb Party’s headquarters in Beirut’s Saifi area, the National News Agency said.
“Security agencies are following up on the issue through the cameras that are fixed at the site in order to identify the car and its type,” NNA said.
It later reported that security agencies are carrying out their investigations under the supervision of Assistant State Commissioner to the Military Court Judge Hani al-Hajjar.
The Progressive Socialist Party condemned the incident, calling on security agencies to bring the perpetrators to justice in order to “prevent a repetition of such acts that can drag the country into bigger security risks.”
MP Fouad Makhzoumi for his part voiced “full solidarity with the friend MP Sami Gemayel and the Kataeb Party,” saying the incident aimed to “create an uproar that would harm civil peace and the security of the Lebanese whereas it is needed to consolidate national unity and control security.”
