Netanyahu says war 'not over yet' after Sinwar's death
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel has “settled its account” with “the person who carried out the worst massacre in the history of our people since the Holocaust.”
Netanyahu addressed the families of the hostages Thursday saying it was an “important moment in the war” to bring home the hostages. He also said anyone who surrendered weapons and assisted with the return of the hostages would be allowed to leave Gaza safely.
Still, he added, “our war has not yet ended.”
"The war... is not over yet. And it is difficult, and it exacts heavy prices from us," Netanyahu said in a video statement, adding in a message to Palestinians in Gaza: "Whoever lays down his weapon and returns our hostages -- we will allow him to go on living."
Netanyahu celebrated Sinwar's killing, saying "evil suffered a heavy blow" and that his death marked an important landmark in the Palestinian group's decline.
"Today evil has suffered a heavy blow," said Netanyahu, adding: "His elimination is an important landmark in the decline of the evil rule of Hamas."
