Army chief travels to Saudi Arabia
Army Commander General Joseph Aoun has traveled to Saudi Arabia at an invitation from his Saudi counterpart Air Chief Marshal Fayyadh al-Ruwaili, the Lebanese Army said on Thursday.
Discussions there will tackle "cooperation between the two countries' armies and means to support the military institution, especially amid the challenges that it is currently facing in carrying out its missions of preserving Lebanon's security and stability," the army added in a statement.
Al-Jadeed television meanwhile reported that a private jet was sent to carry Aoun to the kingdom and that he would meet with "high-ranking political officials."
